A Heart Full of Stories
Release your inner storyteller! For beginning to advanced storytellers. Through fun, insightful exercises you will: physicalize your story with gesture and voice, learn to create fairy tale or personal myth and perform a memorized story to the group. A workshop can be one evening to three days long.
We'll use common objects as a natural springboard into story, e.g. a bowl, a photo, a candle. Your insights can either develop into an original story, or add personal connection to a tale. We'll play theatre games to help turn stage fright into performance energy, and do vocal release exercises to broaden your range, comfort and flexibility.
We will explore "point of view" as a teller to enhance creativity and broaden options. To reinforce the roots of storytelling as a spiritual and community-building activity, we'll have a gifting ceremony in which participants offer small objects to each teller as mementos.
Reisa is very much a facilitator, not a judge of participants' work. This workshop is experiential rather than on a lecture basis. You must be willing to receive and give a bit of thoughtful feedback.

Free Your Voice
For beginning to advanced singers, storytellers, actors and speakers. In a fun, interactive session you'll learn how to breathe, relax and vocalize in a natural style. Simple relaxing and energizing techniques will free your breathing and release your resonant voice. A workshop can be one evening to three days long. Learn the basics of Singers' Yoga, a series of simple movements to open the body's resonating centres.
Or, book private lessons in your home. Reisa will travel within Metro Vancouver, Burnaby and North Vancouver. Click on Lessons & Performance Info in the sidebar, or email: lessons (at) reisastone.com
You'll learn how to prevent and correct vocal problems. Ever wonder why you can start out a session in choir or with your band feeling great, but as time goes on your throat tightens? You'll learn why, and what you can do about it. Every singer and speaker strives for an open throat, extended range, flexibility and emotional expression. These are attainable with the right set of tools. Oh, and that "break" in your voice? Everybody has one. Again, you just need the tools to smooth it over.
Free Your Voice combines contemporary and classical vocal wisdom with multicultural physical and spiritual disciplines. We'll do some toning as a profound, safe group sound.
Learn the miracle of your body as an instrument for emotional and spiritual expression. Find out why "Use your diaphragm" (a directive that frustrated Reisa, too!) is not working for you---and what will. Get familiar with basic physiology that every speaker and singer needs to know for full effectiveness!

The Wild Heart
This workshop is suitable for adult women who wish to explore and enhance their creativity in a safe group. Equal attention and value will be given to all art forms: painting, sewing, bead work, quilting, storytelling, song, pottery, etc. Women's work which has been marginalized as “crafts” is encouraged.
Participants will: explore their art in greater depth, experience their art form received seriously by others, formulate specific goals for furthering their creative desires, learn grounding and centering techniques to create focus for their work and receive inspiration from other artists. During our time together we will strike a balance between reverence and fun.
Each woman will create a personal fairy tale or myth and discover her commonalities and differences with the lives of other women. We will learn a Tree of Life Meditation, have a gifting ceremony to honour each other's talents, and play some non-competitive games to enhance essential silliness and creativity.
